Skin - Is it that important?
This is one of those things that I talk about a lot. Ask any of my clients. I am all about that skin. Because I am a true believer in the fact that skin is in & I say that as a 34 year old chick who has always had pretty great skin - UNTIL my 30s. This is going to be a series of posts about skincare, recommended products, & techniques to help your skin!
Now, most people don't know that your skin is your largest organ your body has. Most think it's your lungs, but in fact your skin is your largest organ & in turn needs to be taken care of in the same manner you'd take care of your heart or lungs. If your doctor said, "Your heart is in trouble, take this medicine, eat more vegetables, & exercise", chances are you're going to do so, right?
So knowing this, when it comes to skin - most people don't really do too much until they notice it going downhill. By then, you're trying to reverse what's already started. So many skin complaints we deal with on a regular basis can be taken care of with regular skin care. No joke. Proper exfoliation, moisturizing, & REAL sun care really can change your whole life. Start small, coconut oil or olive oil & a stand alone sunscreen. (don't rely on your foundation's sunscreen.)
I'm going to leave you with a few tips for the road today:
Remove your makeup.
Hydrate your skin from the inside out.
AVOID the sun.
Exfoliate, but don't over-exfoliate.
Eat well & Get enough sleep!
I know, they seem pretty obvious, but let's be serious - I didn't get 7-8 hours of sleep last night & we ate at Sweeto Burrito. But I did slather myself in sunscreen, wear a hat, stayed hydrated, & cleansed my skin with a low foam face wash last night before I did finally go to bed. So - I suppose, it's really - Do your best, because you only get the skin you're in!
